Drake’s “Take Care” Album Sales Huge; Record to Dominate Charts

The sub-500,000 opening week total for Drake’s debut studio album “Thank Me Later” was disappointing given the hype, but that adjective will not apply to the tally for follow-up “Take Care.”

Based on opening day sales data, Hits Daily Double forecasts the album will sell between 675,000 and 725,000 copies, making for one of the biggest debut totals of the year. The album has also produced a number of strong performers on the iTunes singles chart, indicative of a successful all-around effort for the artist.

The impressive bow will easily give “Take Care” the Billboard 200 victory, even as some of the seasonal albums gain momentum ahead of the holiday season.

Other newcomers include the second “Glee” Christmas album (65-70,000) and Andrea Bocelli’s “Concerto: One Night in Central Park” (60-65,000).

Childish Gambino’s (Donald Glover) “Camp,” meanwhile, will impress with 45-50,000 opening-week sales.
