If the woeful ratings were not enough of an indicator, yesterday’s announcement that “Prime Suspect” would not have a place on NBC’s midseason schedule should have been the tell–the Maria Bello-starrer was not going to make it out of the first season alive.
Sure enough, news came Tuesday that production will end on the UK adaptation, meaning the show is highly-unlikely to develop any episodes beyond the initial thirteen-count.
NBC has not formally confirmed cancellation, but the plans to end production and common sense should provide all the proof one needs.
After getting off to a very slow start in the ratings, “Prime Suspect” received extra attention from NBC, which scheduled a number of encore telecasts with the hope that the show would find an audience. That plan did not pan out, and “Suspect” remained a dud in its Thursday at 10PM timeslot.
