“How to Be a Gentleman” Ratings Fall Farther, “X Factor” Down Slightly

After premiering to a disappointing rating that squandered much of its “Big Bang Theory” rating, “Gentleman” fell even further in week two. According to TV Media Insights, the show only delivered a 4.7 in the overnight metered markets, down from its 5.5 last week and almost a full 50% below its lead-in (9.1).

The adults 18-49 rating could land in the low-2s, which given the current strength of “Big Bang,” is a problem. Currently-sidelined “Rules of Engagement” is awaiting its debut as part of the new Saturday lineup–perhaps it will instead be brought in as a Thursday replacement?

(Update: “How to be a Gentleman” looked far better in the fast nationals, scoring a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating and 7.8 million viewers. Though it has almost no hope of renewal at these levels, its week-to-week decline was actually less than that of lead-in “The Big Bang Theory,” which fell to a 4.4 rating)

“Gentleman,” of course, was not the only new series to fall this week. Week three of “Charlie’s Angels” was down (4.6 to 4.2), as was “Person of Interest” (8.1 to 7.3), “Whitney” (3.8 to 3.5), “Prime Suspect” (4.2 to 4.0) and “Secret Circle” (1.7 to 1.5).

FOX’s “The X Factor” was also down slightly, but with its 7.8 overnight metered market rating and healthy skew among adults 18-49, it still performed well and likely gave FOX the demographic win for the evening.
