“The Big Bang Theory” Ratings Top Night, “Community” Is Again Weak

With “The X Factor” underperforming, it looks like Thursday is “The Big Bang Theory”‘s night to lose this season.

The comedy’s hourlong season opener averaged a 4.9 adults 18-49 rating with 14.4 million viewers, easily besting its timeslot competition. “The X Factor” could only muster a 3.9 with 11.4 million head-to-head with “Big Bang” (it averaged a 4.4 with 12.7 million at 9PM).

NBC’s 8PM comedies simply failed to register against “The Big Bang Theory.” NBC continues to have no reason (beyond creative) for renewing “Community”–its season premiere came in at just a 1.7 rating with 4.0 million viewers. Even with Emmy buzz and huge acclaim for its third season, “Parks and Recreation” just can’t get the job done in the ratings, particularly in the 8:30 timeslot. It only garnered a 2.0 with 4.1 million.

As reported earlier, “The Office” followed with a solid 3.9 and 7.6 million viewers, while new series “Whitney” launched decently at a 3.2 with 6.7 million.
