The fast national results are starting to circulate, and it appears ABC’s Emmy-winning “Modern Family” crushed “The X Factor” in head-to-head competition Wednesday.
“Modern Family” rose to a series high 6.0 adults 18-49 rating with 14.3 million viewers for its hour-long season premiere. “X Factor,” meanwhile, could only muster a 4.2 rating for its two-hour premiere–a disaster in comparison to its lofty expectations.
Total viewership for “Factor” came in at 12.1 million viewers, less than half of the total for last season’s “American Idol” premiere.
In the 9PM hour, “X Factor” posted a 4.4 with 12.6 million, losing by a wide margin to “Family” and only barely beating “Criminal Minds” in the demo (4.1, 14.1 million).
