There were a lot of reasons to doubt “Mad Men”‘s ability to win a fourth consecutive Emmy. “Boardwalk Empire” had all the buzz coming off its performance at the Creative Arts Emmys last week. “Friday Night Lights” had sentimental support for its final season and made waves in earlier awards categories, including the Lead Actor category many felt belonged to Jon Hamm this year.
But when it came time for the big prize, the show simply could not be overlooked. Having produced “The Suitcase,” one of the best television episodes in history, “Mad Men” was simply too big to fail, even in its fourth season.
Four years running, and “Mad Men” is still the best show on television.
