No blockbuster albums debut this week, but an array of healthy performances from newcomers will indeed impact the Billboard 200 album sales chart.
Hits Daily Double predicts victory will belong to Jill Scott, whose “The Light of the Sun” is pacing for a first week tally of 130,000. That forecast is based on an extension of Tuesday’s single-day performance.
Behind among newcomers will be Bon Iver’s self-titled release at 80-90,000, topping the 60-65,000 for Justin Moore’s “Outlaws Like Me.” The country album is riding the recent success of Moore’s “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” cover.
“Weird Al” Yankovic’s “Alpocalypse” is forecast to follow at 45-50,000, topping the 40-45,000 for Pitbull’s “Planet Pit.” The fairly soft bow for the latest Pitbull album, even amid all the media attention, fanfare and radio presence, is again reflective of the disparity between being a singles artist and an album-seller.
The same can be apply to LMFAO, which has a hot single in “Party Rock Anthem.” “Sorry for Party Rocking” should open to about 20-25,000 first week copies, slightly topping Matt Nathanson’s “Modern Love.”
