WWE RAW Opens with Technical Difficulties, WWE Dropping SmackDown! vs. RAW

Jim Ross noted this weekend that WWE will be making a major announcement related to its annual THQ video game Tuesday. According to various reports, including one on the Observer website, the company is expected to drop the annual “SmackDown! vs. RAW” gimmick for something more general, such as “WWE ’12.”

The company is reportedly no longer convinced that fans see any legitimate feud between RAW and SmackDown.

— Monday’s Memorial Day-edition of RAW opened with technical difficulties that lasted for the near-entirety of the first segment. Following the tribute to the US armed forces, the show opened with R-Truth destroying the merchandise stands but was not picking up audio. WWE later piped in an audio track that was quite blatantly behind the live events being shown on the screen; it was cleared up nearly ten minutes later when Truth and Cena had their in-ring confrontation, but there were even some glitches during that segment.
