NBC Picks Up Chelsea Handler’s “Are You There, Vodka?,” “Bent,” Cancels “Outsourced”

Having primarily focused on drama pickups in the early portion of the week, NBC continued building next year’s schedule with some deliveries for comedies.

As expected, Chelsea Handler’s “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea,” starring Laura Prepon in the Chelsea Handler role, got the green light for next season. It, along with new pickup “Free Agents” and previous orders “Up All Night” and “Whitney,” is expected to land a slot on the fall roster.

More likely for midseason, according to Variety, are new series “Bent” and “BFFs” (previously the untitled Lennon Parham-Jessica St. Clair project).

NBC, meanwhile, canceled “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” “The Event” and “Outsourced,” while issuing a 13-episode renewal to “Chuck.” It is expected to be the final season of the spy dramedy.
