Report: “Two and a Half Men” Wanted Hugh Grant as Sheen’s Replacement

Deadline reported Wednesday that CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” came within striking distance of landing Hugh Grant as its replacement for fired star Charlie Sheen.

Still intending to move forward with a new, high-profile actor at the forefront, “Men” producers reportedly offered Grant $1 million per episode to come aboard the high-rated CBS sitcom. Grant was very warm to the offer but ultimately pulled out due to creative differences, the report says.

Hoping to erase doubt about the show’s ability to function without Sheen, CBS has reportedly urged Chuck Lorre and company to go after a high-level actor who would be fairly new to television. Lorre, Deadline says, is also operating on the condition that he wants to get excited about and get along with the new star.
