“American Idol” welcomes Lady Gaga to the show in a big way next week, with the pop superstar confirmed as the guest mentor for the Top 4 finalists.
Gaga, whose “Born This Way” album hits stores on May 23, will help escalate buzz for the album with her mentor appearance. The singer-songwriter will take the contestants through the songbook of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, which serves as the theme for Top 4 night.
Best known for producing hits in the 1950s, Leiber and Stoller are responsible for such classics as “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Kansas City” and “Stand By Me.”
The “Idol” press release did not confirm specifics on how the performances will be structured over the 90-minute telecast.
The May 12 results show, which takes place next Thursday, will feature a performance from “Idol” season six winner Jordin Sparks and the premiere of Steven Tyler’s music video for “Feels So Good.”
