“Body of Proof” Ratings Start Decently After Strong “Dancing with the Stars”

It remains to be seen how “Body of Proof” will hold up in the coming weeks, but the final ABC drama launch of the season performed decently after “Dancing with the Stars” Tuesday.

The drama posted a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating with 13.85 million viewers, easily winning its timeslot over CBS’ “The Good Wife” and NBC’s “Parenthood” (both at a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating).

One certainly cannot discredit the “Dancing” lead-in, of course. The first results show of the season garnered an impressive 4.2 rating with 18.81 million viewers at 9PM, providing an ample sample opportunity for “Proof.”

But “Body of Proof” definitely did more with the lead-in than previous occupant “Detroit 1-8-7.” The cop show, which premiered after a “Dancing” results show in September 2010, garnered a 2.5 with 9.75 million viewers out of a 4.3 with 18.31 million for “Dancing.”

It is, however, worth bringing attention to the fact that “Body of Proof” lost nearly two million viewers and 0.4 in the demo at the 10:30 mark. It is hard to hold steady with so many “Dancing” viewers tuned in at the very top of the hour, but any drops over the course of an hour make critics whether fans were truly enjoying the episode.
