Australian website “What’s Playing” has posted an extensive rundown of plot details for the upcoming “American Reunion,” the fourth film in the original “American Pie” saga.
Of note is the claim that every principal character from the original film has a role in the new film. That includes Tara Reid, Chris Klein and Mena Suvari, who were not involved in the third film “American Wedding.”
It also appears that the film will primarily focus on the original characters. The initial news story on the fourth “American Pie,” which came in April 2010, presented the film as if it would be a “reboot” that would use the drawing power of the original cast to spark interest in a new crop of characters.
Among the plot tidbits revealed in the What’s Playing story; based on the notes, it appears references to the cast members in the string of straight-to-DVD “Pie” movies will not be treated as canon (Stifler, for instance, had been identified as a successful porn producer in “Band Camp”). As this source is unconfirmed, all notes should be taken with a grain of salt:
— The original characters are back in East Great Falls for their ten-year high school reunion.
— Oz made it big on a “Dancing with the Stars” type reality show and now lives in Malibu as a big-shot. He shows up at the reunion with his girlfriend Mia, who appears to only be interested in his money. His ex Heather attends the reunion with her new, surgeon boyfriend (a forty-something man who tries to act much younger).
— Stifler is struggling; he currently works as a temp for an obnoxious boss that refers to him as his “bitch.” At one point in the film, he hooks up with Laurie, a formerly-attractive girl who has since gained eighty pounds.
— Jim, whose embarrassing tape with Nadia has gone viral on YouTube, is still married to Michelle, but a complication arises in the form of his next-door neighbor Kara holding a crush on him. This angers her boyfriend Marco.
— Finch, an “international traveler,” hooks up with Trisha, a hot bartender who previously-attened band camp with Michelle. Stifler’s Mom, however, still very much has a role in the film.
