So much for FX being the network of second chances.
Though the cable network surprised some when it renewed recent comedy entries “Archer” and “The League” for second seasons (“The League” then performed well enough in season two to earn a third season), that same mercy is not being extended to dramas.
FX recently canceled its low-rated freshman “Terriers,” and news comes Thursday that “Lights Out” received the same treatment. It will not return for a second season.
The news could have been predicted by week one of the show’s single-season run. Despite massive promotion, which included aggressive campaigns during FOX’s highly-rated winter NFL coverage, the show failed to launch, premiering to a modest 1.5 million viewers. It has fallen quite a bit from that low point and really deserves nothing but a failure label.
