“Mars Needs Moms” Colossally Fails at Box Office, “Battle: Los Angeles” Wins

“Battle: Los Angeles”‘ box office victory surprised no one this weekend, making the colossal failure of “Mars Needs Moms” the real news story.

Budgeted at $150 million according to Deadline, the animated film earned only $6.8 million at the weekend box office. An all-time box office disaster, the film was only good for fifth place in its weekend debut.

“Battle: LA” led the weekend with $36 million, topping the $23.1 million for “Rango.” New release “Red Riding Hood” followed with a lukewarm $14.1 million, edging well-reviewed “The Adjustment Bureau” ($11.5 million).
