“Glee” Ratings Improve Slightly For Gwyneth Paltrow’s Return

One cannot totally dismiss the possibility that Gwyneth Paltrow’s return to “Glee” spurred interest–after all, the ratings were up over the last original telecast, but the impact was definitely weaker than it was for her first appearance.

FOX’s “Glee” posted a 4.6 adults 18-49 rating with 11.96 million viewers Tuesday, rising 7% from its performance in the fast nationals two weeks ago.

That demo rating, however, was down 6% from the 4.9 fast national figure for Paltrow’s character’s debut on November 16, 2010. That episode also had the burden of running against an original episode of CBS’ “NCIS” (which averaged a 3.9 rating with 19.41 million viewers), whereas this week’s episode faced a re-run (down to a 2.3 rating with 13.43 million).

“Raising Hope” (2.8 rating, 6.82 million viewers) and “Traffic Light” (1.5 rating, 3.83 million viewers) followed.
