“The Fighter”‘s Christian Bale Wins Oscar, “Social Network” Scores with Reznor

The early portion of the 2011 Academy Awards telecast continued its reign of predictability, with “The Fighter” and “The Social Network” scooping up the awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Score, respectably.

Christian Bale’s turn as Dicky Eklund in “The Fighter” scored him an Oscar victory. Like nominees in the other major acting categories (Melissa Leo for Supporting Actress, Natalie Portman for Lead Actress and Colin Firth for Lead Actor), he had been on odds-on favorite to scoop up the trophy.

“The Social Network”‘s Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won for Original Score.
