“Need You Now” Beats “Love the Way You Lie” For Record of the Year Grammy

“Need You Now” impressed Grammy voters for more than just its songwriting–the smash hit Lady Antebellum single overcame frontrunner “Love the Way You Lie” to win the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.

The 2011 Grammy Awards have been kind to the country trio, granting them the award for Country Album of the Year as well as Song of the Year, for the album and song of the same “Need You Now” name. The group remains in the mix for the overall Album of the Year and would again have to upset Eminem for the prize.

Beyond the Lady A and Eminem records, other Record of the Year nominees were Cee-Lo Green’s “F*ck You,” BoB’s “Nothin On You (featuring Bruno Mars)” and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind.”
