Early “Live to Dance” Ratings Look Promising for CBS, Paula Abdul

The real test will not come until the show goes head-to-head with star Paula Abdul’s alma mater “American Idol,” but for a premiere, CBS’ “Live to Dance” showed some promise.

While nothing conclusive can yet be said about the adults 18-49 demo performance, overnight metered market data lists “Dance” at a 7.0 household rating. The consistent performance from 8PM to 10PM (its first and last half hours both averaged 7.1 ratings) was welcome, and there is a solid chance that the fast nationals, due by noon Wednesday, will list viewership of more than 10 million.

Update: The fast nationals are in, and the promise in the numbers was limited. “Live to Dance” did well with total viewers, but it was old-skewing and only mustered a lukewarm number in the 18-49 demo.

Episode two of the new series airs Wednesday night as a lead-in for the People’s Choice Awards.
