Steve Carell Scores Deal for New Comedy at NBC

Deadline Hollywood reports that departing “The Office” star Steve Carell has sold a single camera comedy project to NBC.

According to the story, Carell will script the half hour based on his early career experience as a postal carrier. Tentatively titled “The Post-Graduate Project,” the comedy focuses on a small town post office and a quirky group of young adults who frequent the facility.

Carell, who has referenced his days as a mailman in interviews, will executive produce with Thom Hinkle.

The actor, who has scored multiple Emmy nominations for his work as Michael Scott, will depart NBC’s flagship comedy “The Office” at the end of its current seventh season.
