“Harry Potter” Overcomes “Tangled” at Box Office, “Burlesque,” “Love & Other Drugs” Top “Faster”

“Tangled” performed impressively at the box office this holiday weekend, but despite topping expectations, the new Disney film could not muster enough coin to top holdover champion “Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows.”

For the five days ended November 28, “Tangled” grossed an estimated $69 million million, which put it slightly behind the $76.3 million for “Potter.” Tangled” was within $2 million over the more traditional three-day weekend, but it still could not put “Harry” to bed.

With “Megamind” landing in third place on $17.6 million, newcomer “Burlesque” was forced to settle for fourth with $17.2 million. “Unstoppable” moved into fifth on $16.2 million.

Newcomer “Love & Other Drugs” grossed a sixth-place $14 million over its five day weekend, topping the $12.2 for dud Dwayne Johnson-starrer “Faster.”

On the platform, the big winner was “The King’s Speech,” which earned $350,000 from four screens.
