Black Eyed Peas Confirmed to Headline 2011 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show

Say goodbye to the streak of classic rock acts playing the NFL Super Bowl halftime show.

For the first time since the infamous Justin Timberlake/Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction” in 2004, a contemporary pop act will perform during the most-watched American television event of the year. That act, set to take the stage in February 2011, will be the Black Eyed Peas.

Amid continued career success that includes the enormously successful “The END” and the upcoming “The Beginning,” the Black Eyed Peas have been a staple at awards show performances. But this certainly gives the act its biggest mainstream American television gig.

“They could have picked anybody,” will.i.am told Rolling Stone. “They could rock a million and get Cheap Trick. I love me some Cheap Trick, those motherfuckers is dope. But it says something that they picked us.”
