“Conan” Ratings Drop For Episode Two, Still Strong With Young Viewers

Ratings for “Conan” took a predictable drop Tuesday, providing a glimpse of a decline that will likely, on a macro level, continue as the new TBS late night show reduces to its core audience.

But despite turning away a third of its premiere audience to garner viewership of 2.8 million, the show still scored big, by late night standards, with young viewers. With 2.1 million adults 18-49 and 1.4 million adults 18-34 watching, Tuesday’s episode undoubtedly outshined competitors “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Show with David Letterman” with the younger audience.

The show’s metered market overnight rating was a 2.1, which should fall short of the “big three” (‘Leno,’ ‘Letterman’ and ‘Nightline’).
