HBO Renews “Eastbound & Down,” “Bored to Death” for Third Seasons

HBO’s Sunday night comedies “Eastbound & Down” and “Bored to Death” might not be ratings phenomena, but the premium cabler is nonetheless interested in more episodes.

Both comedies will be back for third seasons, the network confirmed Wednesday.

The two comedies, which currently air after “Boardwalk Empire” and predictably lost most of its lead-in, nonetheless have powerful followings. For “Bored to Death,” the support comes in force from critics. “Eastbound,” meanwhile, has carved a loyal cult following that frequently quotes lines from lead character Kenny Powers (Danny McBride).

Sunday’s editions of “Bored” and “Eastbound” scored 1.006 million viewers with a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating and 1.443 million viewers with a 0.9 rating, respectively.
