“The Event” Ratings Finally Hold Steady, “Chase” Upticks

In conjunction with news of “The Event”‘s full season pickup comes the first glimpse of the show’s ratings stability.

While a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating is disappointing for such a heavily-hyped show, “The Event” can at least claim it held fairly steady from last week (this week’s rating, technically lower than last week’s figure, still reaches a 2.2 due to rounding). Its prior three airings were on a consistent decline from the well-rated premiere episode.

Viewership was down slightly to 6.37 million viewers, and as with last week, the show’s viewership and demographic performance narrowly declined over the hour. So while NBC can at least breathe knowing its big fall investment did not drop below the 2.0 barrier this week, it is not as if “The Event” is showing any signs of a notable turnaround.

Elsewhere, NBC’s “Chuck” opened the night with a 1.9 and 5.27 million viewers. “Chase” closed shop with a 1.6 and 5.17 million viewers. Despite the lukewarm performances, NBC is reportedly considering both for a full season pickup–an Entertainment Weekly story specifically said that negotiations for a “Chuck” back nine order are in the final stages.
