“Jackass 3D” Dominates the Box Office, But “Red” Also Starts Strong

Predictably, “Jackass 3D” had no trouble dominating the Friday box office as it positions itself for an opening weekend victory.

The film earned a whopping $21.8 million at the box office Friday. Now within striking distance of a $45-50 million opening weekend, the film will far outperform its predecessors “Jackass: Number Two” ($11.8M opening day, $29M opening weekend) and “Jackass: The Movie” ($9.7M opening day, $22.8M opening weekend).

While the weekend will unquestionably belong to “Jackass,” new release “Red” also managed to garner a solid receipt tally. The film kicked things off with $7.2 million and has a solid chance of crossing the $20 million threshold for the weekend.
