“No Ordinary Family” Ratings Drop Again, “Detroit 1-8-7” Still Weak

NBC’s “The Event” is not the only heavily-hyped new supernatural drama facing a ratings challenge. ABC’s “No Ordinary Family” suffered yet another ratings slip for its third episode.

The 8PM entry dropped another 15% to a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. Total viewership was down to 7.68 million.

While “Family” competes with powerhouses “Glee” and “NCIS” in a stacked timeslot, the hefty competition is not enough to explain the ratings downtrend. “Family” premiered to a 3.2 rating two weeks ago; on that same night, the Britney Spears-themed “Glee” posted a rating 28% higher than what it scored this week. There was no chance of “No Ordinary Family” becoming a top-ranked series in this timeslot, but the potential eyeballs were certainly there.

“Family” led into the “Dancing with the Stars” results show (15.69 million viewers, 3.4). 10PM series “Detroit 1-8-7” continues to disappoint; this week’s episode scored a 1.8 rating with 7.43 million viewers.
