“Modern Family” Ratings Strong, “Law & Order: Los Angeles” Drops

While comedy rival “Glee” fell by more than 24% for its third episode of the season, “Modern Family” held fairly steady, easily winning the broadcast race Wednesday night.

The Emmy-winning comedy posted a 4.5 adults 18-49 rating with 11.34 million viewers. Save for “The Middle” (2.4 rating, 7.97 million viewers), the rest of ABC’s programming improved over last week, with “Better With You” ticking up slightly to a 2.3 with 6.89 million viewers, “Cougar Town” climbing to a 3.1 with 7.20 million viewers and “The Whole Truth” up to a 1.4 with 4.53 million.

Not all of the networks were so lucky. NBC, in particularly, saw across the board declines. “Undercovers,” which has no apparent chance of earning a second season, kicked things off with a dismal 1.5 and 6.24 million viewers. Veteran “Law & Order: SVU” was down to a 2.5 with 8.66 million viewers, while new series “Law & Order: Los Angeles” fell notably, albeit predictably, from its premiere to a 2.4 with 8.23 million.
