“Mad Men” won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series for a third consecutive year, spoiling “Lost”‘s final campaign for a Drama Emmy.
After winning for its first season, “Lost” had failed to come up with the big trophy since. Its sixth and final season was not universally loved, but some felt that, like “The Sopranos” several years ago, the ABC sci-fi drama would be in serious contention to win the award as a parting gift from the Academy.
That was not the case, and critical darling “Mad Men” won yet again. Other nominees included fellow AMC series “Breaking Bad,” CBS’ “The Good Wife,” Showtime’s “Dexter” and HBO’s “True Blood.”
