Kings of Leon Reject “Glee,” Music Has Appeared on “Entourage,” “Gossip Girl”

An NME interview with Kings of Leon addresses the band’s apparent unwillingness to license its songs to Hollywood, overlooking the fact that Kings songs have previously been associated with both “Gossip Girl” and “Entourage.”

Bassist Jared Followill tells NME that the band rejected a licensing request from FOX’s “Glee.” He has never seen the show, but acknowledges, “Apparently everybody loves it.”

Jared and lead singer Caleb Followill also reveal that the band turned down an appearance request for ABC’s “Ugly Betty” and licensing for a movie trailer that wanted to use “Use Somebody.”

Caleb says of the movie offer, “Next day, they called back and tried to put us through to the star of the movie – I won’t name names, but he’s an incredibly famous actor – to let him try and convince us to agree to do it.

“I was like, ‘Man, don’t even waste your energy’.”

No comment in the NME article is offered on the fact that the band’s songs have appeared on other shows like the aforementioned “Entourage” and “Gossip Girl.”
