— Hollywood trade THR reported Monday night that “Glee” star Lea Michele narrowly avoided a car accident en route to a Hollywood Reporter Emmy Roundtable.
Michele, a nominee for “Glee,” was reportedly stopped at the intersection of Crescent Heights and Sunset Boulevard when a car ran a red light and crashed into a truck. The truck was sent flipping, and it landed “a few feet from Michele’s vehicle.” She was able to leave her car safely.
— In other “Glee” news, creator Ryan Murphy said at the TCA press tour panel that Beatles legend Paul McCartney recently sent a mixtape of songs he hopes could be worked into an episode of “Glee.”
“I’ve heard he’s a fan of the show…I was gobsmacked,” said Murphy. “So of course we are going to do something.”
— Although neither he nor FOX’s Peter Rice are confirming that a deal has been made, Steven Tyler has confirmed mutual interest in the rumored gig as a judge on “American Idol” in a series of media interviews.
Speaking at the TCA panel Monday, Rice confirmed that many of the rumors (which would presumably include Jennifer Lopez signing as a judge, Kara DioGuardi departing, Steven Tyler signing as a judge and Nigel Lythgoe returning as an executive producer) are “accurate,” while a few tidbits have been “widely inaccurate.”
He did say that, officially, “no one has signed a deal on either side of the camera that wasn’t on the show last year.”
