“Damages” Earns Two More Seasons at DirecTV

DirecTV, which played a major role in saving the critically-beloved “Friday Night Lights” two seasons ago, came to the rescue of another acclaimed series.

The network has ordered two additional seasons of legal drama “Damages,” which had aired its previous three season on FX. The show, which stars Glenn Close and Rose Byrne, has fared well with critics and Emmy voters, but its mass appeal has been limited. Ratings for the series fell greatly this past season, and the DirecTV deal appeared to be its only realistic hope of survival into next year.

Unlike the “FNL” deal that also involves NBC, DirecTV will not be sharing broadcasting rights with another network–the show will air exclusively on the satellite service’s 101 Network.
