Entertainment Weekly reported this week that “90210” will feature yet another storyline in which a presumed-straight character deals with homosexual feelings.
But unlike last year’s arc with Adrianna, in which the Jessica Lowndes-portrayed character briefly engaged in a fling with Rumer Willis’ Gia, this coming-out will be permanent.
The male character to officially acknowledge his homosexuality will be one of the leading teens–EW has narrowed it down to either Trevor Donovan’s Teddy, Michael Steger’s Navid or Matt Lanter’s Liam. All three have been romantically-involved with some of the show’s leading ladies and have consistently been portrayed as heterosexual.
“We want to address the issue in a real and relatable way,” says the show’s Jennie Urman. A similar line was given in advance of last year’s Adrianna storyline.
The CW’s “90210” kicks off its third season this September.
