“Pretty Little Liars” Ratings Stay Strong For Episode Two

Despite so-so reviews, the successful “Pretty Little Liars” premiere sufficiently hooked its audience, as episode two of the ABC Family series effectively retained the entirety of last week’s viewership while again performing solidly in key demographics.

In a truly impressive feat, “Liars” slightly built on last week’s viewership count with an audience of 2.476 million (over 2.466 million for the premiere). The show was also steady among adults 18-49, scoring the same 0.9 rating with 1.1 million viewers in the demo.

Among women 18-49, the show’s viewer tally jumped from 854,000 to 869,000.

Interestingly, while overall viewership was steady, and while the show was still a top performer with girls and young women, it actually lost traction in some of its target demos. The show was down slightly with teens (864,000 vs. 904,000), female teens (747,000 vs. 853,000), females 12-34 (1.3 million vs. 1.5 million) and women 18-34 (567,000 vs. 657,000).

Still, as a cable time period victor in nearly all of its key demographics, “Pretty Little Liars” achieved more than enough good to prevent anyone from dwelling on the minor negatives.
