Speaking to THR, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that the Coldplay catalog has finally been cleared for use on the FOX musical comedy.
Taking part in a roundtable with comedy showrunners, Murphy confirmed that Coldplay, one of the few acts to decline licensing to “Glee,” has since agreed to open its catalog for the show.
“Coldplay called a week ago and said, ‘We’re sorry, you can have our catalog,'” explained Murphy.
That leaves singer-songwriter Bryan Adams as one of the only identified mainstream acts to continue withholding permission. Murphy called the Adams rejection his “favorite,” and there had been rumors earlier this year that Neil Patrick Harris’ character, ultimately called Bryan Ryan, was originally going to be called Bryan Adam as a shot at the Canadian artist.
