Stone Temple Pilots Compete With “Glee” in Album Sales Race

Next week’s top-selling album will be determined by a race between post-grunge veteran act Stone Temple Pilots and the latest soundtrack for FOX’s “Glee.”

STP’s self-titled release is tracking for 65-70,000 this week, based on one day sales extensions from Hits Daily Double. The third full-length “Glee” soundtrack, which topped the charts this week, should fall in the same range–buzz for last night’s Lady Gaga-themed episode, several songs from which are on the album, is keeping it in contention.

Elsewhere, the “Sex and the City 2” soundtrack should land just shy of 30,000, while Hank Williams III’s “Rebel Within” looks good for 15-18,000. Marc Anthony’s “Iconos” will be in the same realm.
