Paula Abdul Returning as Judge — For CBS Show

Since she departed “American Idol,” the media has constantly been trying to discover what Paula Abdul would do next. There was the “Star Search” rumor. There was talk of her joining “Dancing with the Stars.” The idea of her joining Simon Cowell on “The X-Factor” next year persists. But for the short-term, an answer finally appears to be available.

THR reports that Abdul will be joining CBS’ adaptation of “Got to Dance” as the lead judge, executive producer, creative partner, mentor and coach.

Based on the British series, the show is billed as featuring competitors of all ages from a variety of different dance genres and styles. CBS is expected to announce Abdul’s participation this week on a show that thrusts CBS into the dancing series mix. At present, ABC has “Dancing with the Stars,” FOX has “So You Think You Can Dance” and NBC has a dancing component on “America’s Got Talent.”
