“The Good Guys” Bombs in Ratings, “American Idol” Falls, “Modern Family” Up

FOX might have miscalculated in already slating “The Good Guys” for its 2010 fall schedule.

A preview episode of the new series absolutely bombed in the ratings Wednesday, scoring just a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 4.98 million viewers as a lead-in to “American Idol.” Booked to run on Fridays this fall, “The Good Guys” looks to have no chance of breaking out as a hit for the network.

For what it is worth, “Idol” was also down to a mere 5.9 adults 18-49 rating with 18.46 million viewers. Though the decline can be justified given how predictable Casey James’ elimination was Wednesday night, the number is still alarming as this year’s competition enters its final week.

Elsewhere, ABC’s new comedy lineup wrapped up with “The Middle” (7.55 million, 2.5), “Modern Family” (10.01 million, 4.2) and “Cougar Town” (6.16 million, 2.8) all in usual territory. The “Primetime: What Would You Do?” broadcast earned a 2.0 and 5.25 million viewers for ABC at 10PM.

CBS’ lineup was soft Wednesday, with “I Get That a Lot” (7.18 million, 2.0) leading into “Criminal Minds” (13.06 million, 3.3) and “CSI: NY” (11.3 million, 2.5).

NBC’s only original was “Law & Order: SVU,” which won 10PM on the strength of a 2.6 rating and 8.61 million viewers.
