Because it was so expected, WWE’s recent announcement that Tony Atlas was released from his contract came with little fanfare–it did nothing to silence discussion over the company’s recent dismissals of Shelton Benjamin and Mickie James.
WWE’s Jim Ross, however, commented on the release, as well as WWE’s policy of accompanying its firings with best wishes on “future endeavors.”
“Sad to hear Tony Atlas got ‘future endeavored’ but it will likely happen to all of us at one time or another,” wrote Ross. “Dislike the term ‘future endeavors’ as it feels like an empty phase. It’s almost become an inside joke with many of the talents. Atlas did get a nice run when it looked as if his WWE days had ended long ago and now perhaps Tony can focus on his art work which is outstanding.”
In the same blog, Ross discussed Matt Striker’s chemistry with Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole, the future of WWE NXT and the truth regarding how well Chris Jericho was welcomed into the WWE lockerroom upon jumping from WCW.
