“Repo Men” did not possess a large chunk of the box office Friday, landing distantly behind some new releases and holdovers.
The poorly-reviewed film grossed a mere $2.2 million at the box office, grabbing only enough coin for fourth place.
Holdover “Alice in Wonderland” led all films with $9.8 million in its third Friday, holding off new release “The Bounty Hunter” ($7.6 million). Though the latter was panned even harder than “Repo Men,” it would have been inconceivable for a Gerard Butler-Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy not to debut to decent numbers.
“Diary of a Wimpy Kid” landed close behind “Hunter,” posting $7.4 million for third. “She’s Out of My League” was in fifth with $1.9 million for its sophomore Friday.
On the limited front, “The Runaways” grossed $300,000 on 244 screens. The $1230 per-screen average is rather disappointing for a buzzworthy limited-release flick.
