Spike TV’s raunchy football-themed comedy “Blue Mountain State” has scored a second season on the cable network, reports THR.
The order calls for a thirteen-episode sophomore season, which comedically follows three freshmen adapting to life as part of Blue Mountain State’s powerhouse football team.
The “Blue Mountain State” renewal comes ahead of the series premiere of “Players” and future Spike series “Back Nine,” giving the network an opportunity to carve a niche in the world of sports comedies.
“Sports comedies [are] something that Spike wants to do,” said Spike’s Kevin Kay. “Ultimately I’d love to have a two-hour block of scripted comedies.”
According to Media Week, the most recent airing of the show did a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49 with 805,000 viewers.
