Original “Lost” Character Returning to the Show This Season

Three weeks and four episodes into its final season, “Lost” continues to generate infinite television industry buzz as it approaches one of the most anticipated finales, from a creative standpoint, in television history. So far, most of the content has been positively reviewed, while the ratings have held up despite some frightful competition.

One of the most exciting parts of the final season, however, has been the re-emergence of several key cast members from the first few seasons. As part of the ongoing “flash-sideways” gimmick, “Lost” has been revealing a timeline in which the passengers of Oceanic 815 landed safely in Los Angeles and the infamous island is deep underwater. Characters like Boone (Ian Somerhalder), Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) and Arzt (Daniel Roebuck) have already appeared in conjunction with the new storytelling device.

Meanwhile, characters like Michael (Harrold Perrineau), Libby (Cynthia Watros) and Charlotte (Rebecca Mader) are also expected to appear.

Another name can be added to that list. “Lost” executive producer Carlton Cuse confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Shannon, played by Maggie Grace, will appear in the final season.

“We’re really excited about having her back on the show, and we have a good story for her,” says Cuse.

Amidst reports that Grace was not going to return, it appeared her character was written out of the sideways universe–Boone mentioned that he was unable to convince his stepsister to leave Australia on the flight. While that rewrite still stands, Shannon will obviously factor into the story in another way.
