Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” Tops Taylor Swift’s “You Belong with Me” For Song of Year

Pitting infamous opponents “Single Ladies” and “You Belong With Me” head-to-head five months after their showdown at the MTV Video Music Awards, the 52nd Grammy Award telecast opened with crowning of song of the year.

A songwriting award, the Beyonce and Taylor Swift songs joined Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings,” Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” and Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” in contention.

And, in addition to providing the video Kanye West called one of the best of all time, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” also offered the best songwriting of the year.

Thaddis Harrell, Beyoncé Knowles, Terius Nash & Christopher Stewart received the Grammy for penning the successful song.
