Charlie Sheen was released from Pitkin County Jail Friday evening after posting $8,500 bail, reports confirmed late Christmas night.
The “Two and a Half Men” actor was arrested Friday morning as Aspen police responded to a domestic violence call. Sheen was brought in on charges of second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief.
The alleged victim and accuser, who was unidentified by police but speculated by virtually all media to be Sheen’s wife Brooke Mueller, was not hospitalized. Sheen’s representative Stan Rosenfield would not confirm the speculation but did admit that the couple was spending the Christmas weekend together in Aspen.
He added, “Don’t be misled by appearances. Appearances and reality can be as different as night and day. It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.”
TMZ, which has been more aggressive than most outlets in covering the story, cites law enforcement officials in claiming the accuser (who TMZ unequivocally identifies as Mueller) was legally drunk with a .13 blood alcohol content at the time of the emergency call. The gossip website also reports that the incident involved a minor physical confrontation, with both passing blame for the altercation onto the other party.
