A drop of 75% from its opening Friday tally could not stop “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” from reclaiming the box office crown in yesterday’s outing.
The film got back in front of “The Blind Side” with $17.9 million for its second Friday. Sandra Bullock-starrer “The Blind Side,” however, continued its outstanding performance with a Friday gross of $16.2 million. Up almost 50% from its bow last Friday, the well-reviewed sleeper has already reaped significant benefits from holiday-fueled movie traffic.
“2012” remained strong with $7 million on Friday, topping competition from Disney’s new “Old Dogs” ($6.9 million, 4th) and holdover “A Christmas Carol” ($6.6 million, 5th).
“Ninja Assassin,” another new release, fell to sixth with $5.7 million on Friday.
