While the presumption many had was that the Undertaker vs. CM Punk feud would culminate with a Taker victory anyway, the man responsible for making it happen so rapidly and definitively at WWE Hell in a Cell was technically Punk himself.
According to F4WOnline.com, Punk garnered significant lockerroom heat due to an incident on a recent European tour.
Though sources are unclear on the exact exchange, it reportedly involved Undertaker confronting CM Punk about not adhering to a more formal dress code when outside of the ring. Punk responded by asking why the rule does not apply to John Cena, at which point, it was decided that Punk’s attitude was a problem.
Some sources are quick to note that Punk’s question was simply designed to underscore the double standard in the lockerroom as it relates to the dress code; veterans, however, took the comment as CM Punk claiming he was on the same level as John Cena.
In response to the situation, the Undertaker vs. CM Punk match was moved to the opening slot on Sunday’s pay-per-view and ended with an Undertaker title victory.
