After all the rumors and “will they or won’t they” regarding some of the cast committing to the project, the anticipated “Arrested Development” film adaptation is finally moving forward.
Though far from a lock–production has not been confirmed–a step in the right direction has been taken as, according to THR, creator Mitchell Hurwitz and co-executive producer James Vallely have begun writing a screenplay.
The film, which brings all the main characters back following the 2006 cancellation of the series, would go into production next spring if the script–and scheduling–all worked out.
Hurwitz would be in line to direct the feature.
“Arrested Development,” which aired for three seasons, won an Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy in 2004. A modern epitome of a cult favorite on television, it ended its run in 2006 after a lengthy period of underwhelming ratings.
