Movie News: Rogen, McAvoy “With Cancer,” Lincoln Assassination

— “Wanted” actor James McAvoy has been booked to star in the film project previously titled “I’m With Cancer,” says Variety.

McAvoy plays the central character in the autobiographical story, which is based on screenwriter Will Reiser’s real-life battle with cancer during his mid-20s. Co-star Seth Rogen is producing, along with frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg and “Daily Show” executive Ben Karlin.

Set to be comedic in tone, Nicole Holofcenter will direct. The new title has not yet been finalized.

— The Risky Biz Blog says that Robert Redford has signed on as director of “The Conspirator,” an historical drama based on Mary Surratt, who was convicted for conspiring with John Wilkes Booth in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Casting will begin shortly; the aforementioned McAvoy is reportedly being eyed for one of the male leads.
