In one of the least surprising newsbreaks of the week, Variety reported that the five original “Futurama” voice actors have reached deals to resume on the show.
Controversy–and anger among fans–ensued last month when 20th Century FOX issued a casting call to replace the principal voices on the show. Though numerous reports treated the replacement as final, it soon became clear that it was a negotiating tactic to bring the cast members back to the table.
John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille, the five actors, reached some sort of compromise to return for the twenty six new episodes on Comedy Central. Reports initially said that the actors wanted $75,000 per episode–a figure that was reportedly “several times” higher than what they received when “Futurama” aired on FOX–but the actors all said the asking price was lower.
What they ended up getting in the compromise has not been made public.
