— Though soundtrack sales for the latest “Hannah Montana” disc were down from the last installment, Miley Cyrus retains her high-profile at Disney. Variety reports that Disney has acquired the rights to a film adaptation of “Wings” and plans to develop the film with Miley Cyrus as the lead.
Cyrus will play Laurel, a fifteen-year-old who, having been home-schooled and sheltered her whole life, struggles to fit in at the high school. She learns that she is indeed different–she is a fairy.
Cyrus is currently shooting “The Last Song.”
— Hugh Jackman has been tapped to star in upcoming comedy “Avon Man,” based on a pitch from “Hitch” writer Kevin Bisch. Jackman plays a laid-off car salesman who succeeds as an Avon salesman. He later brings his buddies into the makeup business in order to win a contest.
— Working Title has confirmed that Renee Zellweger will be back for a third installment in the “Bridget Jones” franchise. Production begins in 2010.
